THE WATER OF CEUTA

Ceuta is a small spanish city which is in the North of Africa. The population is 78.300 inhabitants, with a density of 4.100 people/km2. The territory is limited 19,3km2, where live many different cultures. In Ceuta the problems of water is due to several causes.

The first cause is the excess consumption or loss in water distribution network.

The second cause is the bad management in the operation of the desalination plant placed in Benitez.

And finally the lack of rain and just a little control of the waters in the swamps.

The best solution for this problem of current importance in our city would be to control the consumptions and to check the possible losses in the network, with an average consumption of 150 liters of water per person and per day consumption standard in Europe with a production of 23.000 m3 the desalination plant would have sufficient flow to supply the population.
